Surge in Compensation Claims

March 2009- There has been a marked increase in the number of compensation claims for accidents both at work and in the street. Cameron Fyfe in the Litigation Department has noticed the number of new enquiries in relation to these claims double in the past few months. Mr Fyfe believes the reason for such claims increasing is two fold. In the first instance poorly maintained pavements and roadways are leading to more accidents occurring. The situation may only get worse as cash strapped councils struggle to maintain the footpaths and roads. In the second instance, it would appear the credit crunch is taking effect, with people on reduced income as a result of the current financial climate pursuing claims. Being compromised financially has led to greater numbers of people seeking compensation when they would not normally consult a solicitor after suffering an injury.
